Palaniswami, Dhinakaran urge Tamil Nadu government to roll back hike in prices of dairy by-products

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami remarked that the TVK regime in Tamil Nadu had given a “Vettri Deepavali” gift to people by increasing the prices of two dozen dairy by-products.

In a post on his social media handle, he wondered about the mindset of the government in raising prices when it knew that people would buy more ghee and sweets during Deepavali. Traders would increase their sales by providing concessions to the public, but this government was functioning like a “corporate villain” in feature films.

AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran asked whether the price increase was an outcome of the visit of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to a dairy plant recently. Expressing shock over the decision of the authorities, he said this would place an additional economic burden on people who were already finding it difficult to meet their day-to-day needs amid inflation.

The two leaders called upon the government to roll back the price hike.
