Jio Platforms made a blockbuster debut on the stock market on Wednesday, with shares opening at Rs 1,358 apiece, a premium of 21.36 per cent over the initial public offering (IPO) price of Rs 1,119. The Reliance Industries-backed digital services company saw its stock climb further during the trading session, hitting a high of Rs 1,375 on the BSE, up 22.87 per cent from the issue price.

The company’s market capitalisation stood at Rs 12,57,401.07 crore, making it the second most valuable domestic firm by market capitalisation.

Jio Platforms moved ahead of Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank in the top five market capitalisation rankings, while Reliance Industries retained its position as India’s most valued company, with a market capitalisation of Rs 15.94 lakh crore.

On the occasion, Executive Director of Reliance Industries Limited, Anant Ambani, delivered a speech that blended the company’s stock market debut with its wider role in India’s digital transformation.

He spoke about the vision of his grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani, the contribution of his father, Mukesh Ambani, and the role played by his siblings, Isha Ambani and Akash Ambani, in Jio’s journey.

He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision for giving Jio its purpose.

Here are five key quotes from Anant Ambani’s speech on Jio Platforms’ listing day.

1. ‘Today, Jio Is Shared With India’

“Today, the bell at the Exchange will ring for me like a temple bell. Because for me, business is Puja. And every Puja ends with Prasad. We offer this day at the feet of Lord Ganesh ji, Lord Dwarakanath ji, Lord Srinath ji, Lord Balaji, and the Living Goddess, Bharat Mata. Prasad is always shared. Today, Jio is shared with India."

Anant Ambani opened his remarks by giving the stock market debut a spiritual significance. He described the occasion as an offering to various Hindu deities and Bharat Mata, presenting Jio’s listing as a milestone to be shared with the country.

2. ‘Bharat Ki Sabse Badi Poonji, Uske Sapne Hain’

“Bharat ki sabse badi poonji, uske sapne hain. Yahan har kisi ka ek sapna hai. Yahan haath khaali ho sakte hain, par aankhein kabhi khaali nahin hotin."

Highlighting the aspirations of Indians, Anant Ambani said the country’s greatest asset was its dreams. He also recalled the journey of his grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani, who started from an ordinary household in Chorwad and worked at a petrol pump in Aden before building a business legacy.

He said Dhirubhai Ambani had demonstrated that an ordinary Indian could dream extraordinarily. Anant also referred to his father’s vision of ensuring that India would not lag behind other countries, citing the construction of the refinery at Jamnagar as an example of what the country could achieve.

3. ‘Jio Dikhta Nahin, Par Bharat Ke Har Digital Sapne Mein Dhadakta Hai’

“Jio dikhta nahin. Par Bharat ke har digital sapne mein dhadakta hai."

Anant Ambani highlighted Jio’s role in connecting people across different walks of life. He referred to how internet connectivity helped students continue their education when schools were closed, enabled families to stay connected through video calls and allowed people to access religious darshans from their homes.

He also spoke about creators who gained audiences through their mobile phones, soldiers stationed at the border who could speak to their families through video calls, and a serious patient in Rajasthan’s Pali receiving care from a doctor in Mumbai. He described Jio as the connection linking these experiences.

4. ‘Jio Aap Ne Banaya. Aapke Sapne Poore Karna, Yahi Hamara Sapna Hai’

“Jio par bharosa karne wale Jio parivaar ke tirpan crore sadasyon ko hamara, sabse pehle, saadar naman. Jio aap ne banaya. Aapke sapne poore karna, yahi hamara sapna hai."

Anant Ambani thanked Jio’s 530 million customers, acknowledging their trust in the company. He said the company’s journey was shaped by its users and that fulfilling their aspirations remained its own goal.

He also expressed gratitude to Jio’s field teams, technicians, engineers, service staff, store teams, retail partners and their families. Recognising their contribution, he said the company’s achievements were possible because of their efforts and dedicated the day to them.

5. ‘Three Bodies, But One Soul’

“Today, Isha Didi, Akash Bhai, and I stand before you as three bodies, but one soul, with one commitment: to honour these dreams."

Anant Ambani spoke about the shared commitment of himself and his siblings, Isha Ambani and Akash Ambani, to carry forward the family’s vision. He said Reliance would continue to pursue new dreams while remaining rooted in the aspirations of Dhirubhai Ambani, his grandmother’s blessings, his father’s guidance and his mother’s values of humility and care.

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the vision of Digital India, which he said gave Jio its purpose, and for his continued guidance and support. Expressing confidence in India’s future, Anant said the country’s tomorrow belonged to its youth and pledged that the company would work towards realising the dream of a Viksit Bharat.
