L&T bagged a massive deal valued between Rs 5,000–10,000 crore on Oct 27, driving its stock price 1% higher to a day-high of Rs 3,713.50.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd put the order notice up on NSE at 10:16 am. The ‘Major’ label places the contract’s value somewhere between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore.
The transportation infrastructure business vertical of L&T has secured these major design and build orders from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) for two key systems packages (CP09 and CP10) of the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line 1), which is the first underground metro project in Bangladesh.
Under package CP09, L&T along with its Japanese partner Sumitomo Corporation will undertake track works, power supply, traction substations, and overhead catenary systems, while package CP10 covers signaling, telecommunications, and platform screen doors.
L&T confirmed that no promoter group entities have an interest in the order and the contract is not a related-party transaction.
Payment for a deal of this scale will be disbursed progressively throughout the project lifecycle rather than as a single upfront sum.
This victory follows recent momentum, including dual highway agreements secured in Dubai by its transport division for the Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor back in September.
Furthermore, the company’s power transmission and distribution unit picked up additional contracts in October aimed at grid reinforcement.
By 13:36 pm it stood at Rs 3,670.20, down Rs 9.80 or 0.27% from Monday’s close of Rs 3,680.00.
By then, roughly 783,000 shares valued at Rs 289.33 crore had traded, though the stock remains down 11.30% since the start of the year.
