Reliance will keep dreaming new dreams. But its roots stay the same, says Anant Ambani

From Chorwad to Jamnagar and later to Jio, Anant Ambani recalled his grandfather and Reliance Founder Dhirubhai Ambani’s humble beginnings in his speech during the IPO listing ceremony on Wednesday.

“Let me begin with the one word that matters most today. Gratitude. To the millions who believed in Jio and made this day possible. Today, the bell at the Exchange will ring for me like a temple bell. Because for me, business is Puja. Today, Jio is shared with India," said Anant Ambani.

A DREAM CALLED JIO: HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

“Many years ago, a dream emerged from an ordinary home in Chorwad. A young man who worked at a petrol pump in Aden. No money. No recognition. Our revered grandfather, Shri Dhirubhai Ambani. He showed us that even an ordinary Indian can dream an extraordinary dream. Then our father dreamed a dream of his own: that India would never lag behind anyone. On the barren land of Jamnagar, he built what became the world’s largest refinery. He showed us that when India builds, the world takes notice. Then came the New India. A young India. And a new dream: the internet in every hand, the world within reach of every village. That dream was called Jio," said Anant Ambani, Reliance Industries Executive Director.

THE JIO CONNECT

“Isha Didi planted the seed of this dream. And Aakash Bhai made that seed his own dream. The entire nation showered Jio with blessings…Jio — perhaps the first name in the world that is itself a blessing. When the world came to a standstill, schools closed, but learning did not stop…A son left home for the city, but his mother was never far away. She could even tell him how much longer the vegetables needed to cook, simply by looking at their colour over a video call…Today, we are also fortunate to receive divine blessings and have the sacred darshan of God from the comfort of our homes…A girl from a small town, with nothing but a mobile phone, began speaking — and soon, millions of people were listening to her. Today, they are called influencers. Thousands of miles away, a soldier standing guard at the border made a video call home and said, “Mother, I’m fine. Daughter, I’m fine." A leading doctor in Mumbai is saving the life of a critically ill patient in Pali, Rajasthan. And connecting them, there is just one thing: Jio," said Anant Ambani.

‘YOU BUILT JIO’

“Jio may not be visible, but it beats at the heart of every digital dream India dreams. To the 530 million members of the Jio family who have placed their trust in Jio, we offer our deepest and most respectful salutations first and foremost. You built Jio. Making your dreams come true — that is our dream," he said.

“Today, Isha Didi, Akash Bhai, and I stand before you as three bodies, but one soul, with one commitment: to honour these dreams. Reliance will keep dreaming new dreams. But its roots stay the same: My Grandfather’s dream, My Grandmother’s blessings, My Father’s guidance, and My Mother’s sanskaar of humility and care. To every member of the Jio family: the field teams, the technicians who climbed towers in rain and heat, the engineers, the service staff, the store teams, our retail partners, and all their families," he said.
