Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is a mindset, while also suggesting that the outfit is not a challenge for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit, Fadnavis accused the CJP of spreading “anarchy", adding that the outfit and the Congress party are working with the same mindset.
“CJP is a mindset. It’s not a challenge for BJP. Our country is built on Dr Ambedkar’s values. CJP is bringing anarchy. CJP and Congress are going by the same mindset," he said.

Fadnavis stressed that the CJP was talking about “regime-change", citing examples from neighbouring Bangladesh and Nepal.
“Ultra-leftist ideology is being promoted. They don’t talk about government change but regime change with examples from Bangladesh, Nepal. People who believe in constitution will oppose them," he said.
Fadnavis’ remarks came amid the CJP’s and the opposition INDIA bloc’s clamour for the rollback of the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
It is pertinent to note that the CJP was also at the forefront of a student-led protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar in July over irregularities in the National Eligbility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026. The protests, which was also joined by activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk, culminated in the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as the Union Education Minister.
On Differences In Mahayuti
While CM Fadnavis acknowledged that there have been differences within the Mahayuti alliance, he suggested that one should learn the art of driving consensus.
“Challenges are there in coalition government, one has to learn the art of driving consensus. I have been able to achieve consensus on 99% of things", he said.
“We all want development for Maharashtra, we face some issues. We have given Maratha quota and in HC there is a case going, we will be able to sustain our stance in HC. Dhangar community case is sub judice. We are trying to strike a balance within confines of constitution. Hopeful, that court will decide in our favour," added the Chief Minister.
On India-US Trade Deal
Addressing the India-US trade deal, which is in the process of finalisation, Devendra Fadnavis underlined that his expertise lied in inter-state trade agreements.
However, he suggested that one should be hopeful.
“I do inter-state trade deals, do not have competence on what will happen with US. But we should be very hopeful", he said.
