In the recording, the person identified as Lawrence Bishnoi appeared to threaten the businessman and his family with dire consequences.

An audio recording purportedly featuring gangster Lawrence Bishnoi threatening Delhi-based betting operator Sachin Jain, alias ‘Google’, surfaced, with the conversation allegedly revealing an extortion attempt.

The recording has come into focus following a firing incident linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Delhi Police confirmed that the complainant, Sahil, is a Dubai-based businessman. Police have also secured entry and exit points across the area following the firing.

Two motorcycle-borne unidentified men opened fire outside the businessman’s house in northwest Delhi’s Pitampura around 5 am on Wednesday. Six rounds were fired, with bullets striking a wall and a car parked outside the residence. No injuries were reported.

Police said Sachin Jain, alias ‘Google’, had received a threatening phone call from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in 2021. A case related to the threat was registered at the Special Cell in 2023. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Akansha Yadav said there had been no fresh threat since then and no one had claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s firing.

Police are probing the alleged involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and suspect the firing could be linked to an extortion attempt, though the motive has not yet been established. CCTV footage purportedly shows two men arriving on a motorcycle, with one of them stepping off and firing several rounds before the duo fled. Investigators have formed teams to analyse CCTV footage and are examining the suspects’ entry and exit routes.

The audio clip allegedly captures a conversation between Lawrence Bishnoi and Sachin Jain. In the recording, the person identified as Lawrence Bishnoi appeared to threaten the businessman and his family with dire consequences.

The exchange began after the call got disconnected.

“Brother, the call got disconnected," Sachin Jain can be heard saying in the clip.

The person identified as Lawrence Bishnoi then allegedly responded, “You clearly don’t know who I am, ‘Google Bhai’. Go ahead and record this if you want. The day any of youor those close to you, or your family members fall into my hands, I will tear you all apart. Keep recording this; it will make it easier for you to file a case later."
