New Vande Bharat Services for Karnataka

Rail passengers in Karnataka are about to get two new high-speed options. A Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Goa is expected to be introduced soon, running through the scenic Western Ghats, while the first Vande Bharat Sleeper between Bengaluru and Mumbai begins operations from November 2, with an inaugural run to be flagged off from Bengaluru on November 1. Both services are planned to run six days a week.

Yesvantpur-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express

The new Goa service will operate on the Yesvantpur-Madgaon route and pass through the scenic stretch between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road, which offers views of the hills and landscapes of the Western Ghats. The train has been developed by BEML using technology from Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory.

It will run via Mangaluru Junction and serve 12 stations along the way: Shravanabelagola, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Road, Kabaka Puttur, Mangaluru Junction, Udupi, Kundapura, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Murdeshwar, Gokarna Road and Karwar.

Train Numbers and Timings

Train 26655 will leave Yesvantpur at 7:35 am and reach Madgaon at 8:55 pm. It will run six days a week, except Wednesdays.

Train 26656 will leave Madgaon at 8:20 am and arrive at Yesvantpur at 9:15 pm. It will run six days a week, except Thursdays.

The journey from Yesvantpur to Madgaon will take about 13 hours and 20 minutes, and the return trip about 12 hours and 55 minutes.

Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper

The Mumbai-Bengaluru route will get its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, which is expected to connect the two cities in under 16 hours, significantly cutting current rail travel time. South Western Railway has released the official timetable, and the train will carry 16 air-conditioned sleeper coaches. The service will not pass through Hubballi.

An earlier plan reported different timings, with departures of 10 pm from Bengaluru and 10:30 pm from Mumbai. The railway’s official notification, summarised below, carries the confirmed schedule, so passengers should rely on it.

South Western Railway has advised passengers to verify timings and stoppages before planning, through the official website enquiry.indianrail.gov.in, the NTES app or the helpline number 139.

What It Means for Travellers

For Karnataka, the two trains strengthen links with the coast, Goa and Maharashtra. The Goa service adds a faster, more comfortable daytime option through one of the country’s prettier rail corridors, and the sleeper promises to let travellers between Bengaluru and Mumbai sleep through the night and reach their destination the next morning.
