The Haryana Congress on Saturday (October 31, 2026) described the Bharatiya Janata Party’s decision to launch a campaign ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, Eliminate Anarchy) as the height of political hypocrisy and a desperate attempt to divert the country’s attention from uncomfortable questions concerning electoral transparency and the credibility of constitutional institutions.
The BJP’s nationwide campaign coincides with the INDIA bloc’s scheduled a protest march on November 1 in New Delhi against the Election Commission’s special intensive revision (SIR) exercise.

Haryana Congress in-charge Sanjay Dutt said the BJP has systematically weakened democratic institutions and now preaching the virtues of democracy. “The party that wants an Election Commission subservient to its interests is now lecturing the Opposition on democratic values. The party that has no answers to the serious allegations of vote theft is branding those demanding answers as anarchists,” he said in a statement.
‘Fighting to protect Constitution’
“Under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party is fighting to protect the Constitution, ensure free and fair elections and safeguard the fundamental democratic rights of every Indian,” he said.
Mr. Dutt said that instead of launching politically motivated campaigns, the BJP must answer pertinent questions. “Why is the Election Commission reluctant to ensure complete transparency and accountability in the revision of electoral rolls and the electoral process? Why are questions concerning ‘vote chori’ and electoral irregularities being dismissed instead of being subjected to an independent investigation? Why is the BJP afraid of an independent, comprehensive and transparent investigation into allegations of electoral manipulation?” he said.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin will lead a ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ padyatra in Rohtak, Haryana, on November 1 as part of the party’s nationwide campaign, against what the BJP describes as the Opposition’s misinformation propaganda.
“We reiterate that the Congress party will neither be intimidated by such diversionary tactics nor remain silent in the face of attempts to malign the Opposition,” added Mr. Dutt.
