Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday expressed confidence that the Congress would return to power in Karnataka in 2028 and called upon party workers in Mandya district to begin preparations from now to achieve the target.
He also asked party workers to begin preparations for the forthcoming local body elections, including Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, Gram Panchayat and urban local body polls.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Mandya District Congress Committee’s Indira Bhavan near Holalu Circle, he urged party workers to set aside personal differences, strengthen the organisation and work towards winning all seven Assembly constituencies in the district.
He said Indira Bhavan should not remain merely a party office, but should become a symbol of self-respect for every Congress worker. He called upon workers to contribute towards its construction according to their capacity, ranging from ₹100 to ₹10 lakh.
He also announced plans to establish Indira Bhavans in all Assembly constituencies of Mandya district and asked party leaders to take the initiative.
