NTT DATA is planning to increase its Mangaluru workforce from approximately 900 professionals now to over 2,500 by the end of 2027.

The plans were shared as senior global leadership of NTT DATA met Priyank Kharge, Karnataka Minister for Information Technology, Biotechnology and E-Governance, in Bengaluru on Monday.

NTT DATA was represented by Charlie Li, President and Global Head of Cloud, AI and Security; Ayman Hussein, Worldwide Managing Director and VP, Google Business Unit; Shashir Shetty, Chief Growth Officer; and Vijay TR, Head of Finance.

The Government was represented by N Manjula, Secretary to Government, Department of Electronics, IT, BT and S&T; Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, CEO, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM); and officials from the Department and KDEM.

NTT DATA entered Mangaluru through its acquisition of Niveus Solutions. A media statement said NTT DATA is looking to build specialised, domain-led capabilities in healthcare and life sciences, high-tech, automotive, manufacturing, AI and data. The upcoming campus is expected to create opportunities for professionals who combine AI and data skills with industry knowledge, a strong signal that Mangaluru can attract high-value global capabilities, not just technology jobs.

Quoting Priyank Kharge, the statement said: “Karnataka’s next chapter of growth is being written beyond Bengaluru, and Mangaluru is leading that story. NTT DATA’s confidence in the region is a testament to the depth of talent our coastal cities offer. Our approach is simple: take opportunity to where talent lives. We see NTT DATA not just as an investor, but as a partner in progress, and the Government of Karnataka will stand with them at every step as they grow in the state.”

Charlie Li said: “Karnataka is a very important investment area for us. Mangaluru and Bengaluru are two of our key hubs for developing AI and data talent, and we will continue to build our capabilities and teams in both. We value the Government’s partnership approach, which mirrors our own, and look forward to working together on the areas we discussed today.”

Manjula said: “With forward-looking policies, a thriving deep-tech startup ecosystem and skilling shaped by industry, Karnataka is building talent-ready technology hubs across the state. NTT DATA’s growth in Mangaluru opens exciting opportunities to co-create with local startups and institutions.”
