Arunachal Pradesh minister and BJP MLA Balo Raja asserted that India was “very strong" and questioned remarks attributed to Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) chief Shatrujeet Singh Kapur about continuing face-offs with Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He urged people to watch the spy thriller Dhurandhar to understand how much India’s intelligence capabilities had grown.

Balo Raja questioned why the ITBP leadership would make such remarks and said India should not be perceived as weak.

“Why make statements like that when you are a DIG? Why perceive yourself as weak? India is very strong. You must have seen the ‘Dhurandhar’ movie; watch it, and you will see how much India’s intelligence capabilities have grown," Balo Raja said.

Balo Raja serves as Arunachal Pradesh’s minister for Urban Affairs, Land Management and Civil Aviation. His comments came after reports that ITBP Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapur had confirmed continuing face-offs at multiple locations along the Arunachal Pradesh frontier.

Shatrujeet Singh Kapur spoke about the continuing confrontations while addressing the Himveer Samman Samaroh, an annual felicitation ceremony for ITBP personnel held at the Central Training College in Alwar.

“In the past few days, a situation arose where a face-off happened at several locations in Arunachal, and it continues," Shatrujeet Singh Kapur said at the event.

Shatrujeet Singh Kapur also praised the ITBP’s newly raised Shaurya commandos for their performance during the confrontations. The commandos specialise in high-altitude warfare.

The ITBP, established in 1962, guards the 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control with China. Shatrujeet Singh Kapur has said the force was initially raised as a mountain guerrilla force before being assigned border-guarding duties along the Chinese frontier in 2004.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) referred questions on specific military developments to the Ministry of Defence and outlined the broader situation along the India-China border.

It added that the situation in border areas could be disturbed when Chinese forces diverged from established patrolling patterns, while both sides continued to use diplomatic and military mechanisms to address outstanding issues and prevent misunderstandings along the LAC.

The ministry also said the two countries had agreed to discuss ways to improve their understanding of the LAC in appropriate areas to strengthen border management.

“The maintenance of peace and tranquillity in the border areas is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations," the MEA said.
