The Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over induction of former AAP MLA and controversial politician Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh and claims of corruption.
Aman Arora, minister and Punjab AAP chief, said, “The Aam Aadmi Party has always given priority to Punjab. If any of our leaders ever engaged in corruption or attempted to act against the interests of Punjab, we took action against them without any hesitation and expelled such people from the party…"
“Now, the BJP is gathering these very expelled individuals because it has no base of its own and doesn’t care at all about the interests of Punjab," he said.
“What good can a person do for Punjab who fired shots at the Punjab Police and fled, and whom Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann sent to jail on charges of rape? But that’s exactly the kind of people the BJP wants," he wrote on X

“This clearly shows that the BJP is completely hollow in Punjab. It has nothing of its own," he said.
With the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections approaching, the BJP has been actively expanding its footprint by recruiting disgruntled or expelled leaders from rival parties like AAP and the Congress. Arora used the induction to paint the BJP as a party lacking local grassroots support, accusing them of scraping together “rejected and criminal elements" out of political desperation.
BJP’s ATTACK
The BJP launched an aggressive counter-offensive, choosing not just to defend the induction but to directly strike at the integrity of CM Bhagwant Mann and the entire AAP leadership.
Led by national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari at a high-profile press conference, the BJP issued severe counter-allegations, accusing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, his wife Gurpreet Kaur, and Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP claimed that the Chief Minister’s Office used intermediaries to systematically broker financial deals—allegedly demanding up to ₹5 crore per case—to settle and quash legitimate rape cases.
The BJP weaponised an official National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) directive, highlighting that the commission had already ordered the Punjab Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police to submit an Action Taken Report regarding these alleged extortion rackets.
