Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sought assistance from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to mobilise personnel and machinery for restoring electricity infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh in anticipation of damage from Cyclone Murasu.
Mr. Naidu spoke to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday and requested them to extend support by deploying the necessary manpower and equipment for restoration works in cyclone-hit areas. Both Chief Ministers responded positively and assured him of all possible assistance.
Mr. Naidu said officials of Andhra Pradesh would coordinate with their counterparts in the two States to facilitate the deployment of personnel and machinery.
Meanwhile, electricity department personnel from Telangana are already engaged in restoring infrastructure damaged by Cyclone Arnab. The State government has also kept teams that completed restoration works in the Arnab-affected areas on standby for deployment in regions likely to be affected by Murasu.
The move is aimed at ensuring the availability of additional manpower and equipment to tackle possible damage to power infrastructure, particularly the uprooting of electricity poles.
