Pranjal Thakral, a 22-year-old engineering diploma holder, has become the 11th person to be detained in connection with the attack on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. He was arrested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday.
Investigators have found that Thakral allegedly carried out the firing on the instructions of mastermind Anil Pandit. He is also accused of supplying a second pistol to one of the shooters involved in the incident.
According to police, Anil Pandit, who is suspected of operating from the US as part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, orchestrated the attack. Thakral was allegedly responsible for putting the plan into action, including arranging funds and logistics for the shooters.
Pandit and Thakral reportedly communicated through a secret messaging application to avoid detection by the police.
Investigators are analysing conversations recovered from Thakral’s phone and examining financial transactions to establish links and trace Pandit’s international network.
Who Is Pranjal Thakral?
Thakral, 22, holds a diploma in engineering and was released on bail in March. He had previously been jailed for allegedly attacking a businessman in Panipat on Pandit’s instructions.
Following his release, Thakral allegedly resumed working with Pandit and began planning the attack on Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu area.
He is now a crucial lead for the Crime Branch as it attempts to track down Pandit, the primary accused who is suspected to be hiding abroad.
Thakral was produced before the holiday bench of the Killa Court on Sunday and remanded to police custody until October 31.
Tiger Shroff Firing Case
The incident took place on the evening of October 18, when at least two men allegedly opened fire at the 36-year-old actor’s car as he was leaving the Pushpa Narsee Park, also known as the Pushpa Narsee Ground, in Juhu after playing football.
According to the Mumbai Police, the shooters escaped on a motorcycle, which they later abandoned in Andheri. They subsequently travelled to Surat and boarded the Pune-Jaipur Express.
The three alleged shooters were arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota while attempting to flee to Nepal via Delhi.
Anil Pandit, who is associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack. Police sources said the gang had initially planned to target another high-profile personality but changed its target because of heavy security.
