The action comes days after 17 undertrial prisoners escaped from Thekkampatti sub-jail in Theni district on October 26.
The wedding details have gained further attention after Kavya's parents, Sun Group chairman Kalanithi Maran and Kavery Maran, reportedly invited Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to the Chennai reception. Actor Thalapathy Vijay is also reportedly among the guests expected at the celebrations, although the complete guest list has not been officially announced. Neither Anirudh nor Kavya has publicly confirmed all the reported wedding arrangements. The exact venue in Chennai has also not been formally announced, though reports suggest that a five-star hotel in the city has been selected for the reception.
The Tamil Nadu government has taken disciplinary action against senior prison officials following the escape of 17 undertrial prisoners from a jail in Theni district, with Chief Minister Vijay directing authorities to strengthen security across all prisons.
Theni Prison Superintendent Nageshwaran has been suspended with effect from October 30 until further orders.
Meanwhile, R Krishnaraj, Superintendent of Madurai Central Prison, has been transferred and posted as the Superintendent of Salem Central Prison.
Chief Minister Vijay has instructed prison authorities to tighten security arrangements and maintain close surveillance across all prisons in the state.
He has also warned that officials found negligent or failing to discharge their duties will face strict action.
The action comes days after 17 undertrial prisoners escaped from Thekkampatti sub-jail in Theni district on October 26. The inmates allegedly staged a medical emergency, overpowered prison guards and fled after taking the keys. All 17 prisoners were subsequently recaptured following a search operation.
The jailbreak triggered a wider review of prison security in Tamil Nadu, with nine prison personnel suspended over alleged negligence. The state government has also initiated measures to strengthen surveillance, improve security infrastructure and address procedural lapses across prisons.
