Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's grandnephew says 'Fauzi' teaser 'ought to be pulled down, corrected and released again' and extends 'best wishes' to Prabhas

The teaser of Prabhas’ ‘Fauzi’ has run into a controversy. Chandra Kumar Bose, grandnephew of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has objected to how the teaser shows historical events and has asked the makers to release a new version.

What the ‘Fauzi’ teaser shows

The teaser, titled ‘File No 25’, was released on October 23 to mark Prabhas’ 47th birthday. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, it begins in Berlin in 1942 with an imagined conversation between Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Adolf Hitler about British rule in India. It then introduces Prabhas as a rebel and superspy fighting the British Empire.

Why the teaser has drawn objections

The objection is about using real historical figures in a fictional story. Chandra Kumar Bose has supported calls for the makers to withdraw the teaser and put out a corrected one.Posting on X, he wrote, “The teaser of Fauzi ought to be pulled down, corrected and released again. Should our concern regarding Netaji be resolved (for the teaser as well as for the Movie), my best wishes go out for #Prabhas and the entire team @FauziTheMovie . Hope @hanurpudi realises the seriousness @narendramodi @AshwiniVaishnaw @SuparnoSatpathy.”

Suparno Satpathy raised the issue first

The matter came up after socio-political leader Suparno Satpathy shared the teaser on X and questioned the decision to bring historical figures into a fictional story. He wrote, “Dear @hanurpudi Garu, describing in one word this teaser is ‘goosebumps’ ... Mixing fiction with history isn’t a good idea… Nevertheless, best wishes are for the release on 19 Mar ‘2027 Netaji Zindabad!! Jai Hind!!… SS”

Chandra Kumar Bose repeats his demand

Bose later reposted Satpathy’s remarks and backed his call for a new teaser.

He again objected to mixing fiction with historical events and asked the filmmakers to make sure the portrayal does not distort history. He wrote, “Mixing fiction with history is a crime. I hope @hanurpudi and his team @FauziTheMovie / @MythriOfficial pull down this teaser, put out a new one and make sure that history is not distorted. Hope #Prabhas too gets to read this.”He also tagged Prabhas in the post, adding, “Hope #Prabhas too gets to read this.”
