With multiple attractions and recreational facilities, the Dasara Exhibition Ground has emerged as a favourite destination among visitors, particularly during weekends, offering a complete package of entertainment.

Although Dasara has come to an end, entertainment continues in sprawling Doddakere Maidana, giving tourists yet another reason to visit the venue.

Claimed to be the longest fountain in south India, the 800-metre-long musical fountain presents four shows between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., featuring six songs.

This year’s distinctive attraction is the Rajiv Gandhi Dragon Pond, which offers boating facilities and captivating laser shows, providing visitors with a unique experience. The towering dragon, appearing to spew fire from its mouth against the dark surroundings, leaves the audience awestruck. Around ten small boats have been deployed to ferry visitors across the pond. Considering the huge response, the Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) is planning to keep the attraction throughout the year.

A flower replica of Disneyland has turned into a popular selfie point, drawing visitors with its attractive designs. The peacock feather formation created with lights behind the floral replica adds to its visual appeal.

As part of its effort to keep the venue a year-round attraction, the KEA has built permanent structures inspired by ancient architectural designs to accommodate commercial stalls. This arena is appealing with its heritage-style structures, including a hotel, an open-air theatre, and a Nandi statue.

Other fun-filled attractions at the exhibition ground include a mermaid show, a dome show exhibiting 3D activities, and an amusement park with giant wheels, offering entertainment for visitors irrespective of their age group. The exhibition venue also hosts cultural programmes every evening at its Kalingarao Mantap located on the premises.

Stalls set up by various government departments have come up with artistic designs, disseminating information about the benefits and features of different government-funded schemes.

Dust Free Exhibition

To ensure a comfortable and convenient experience for visitors, the KEA has laid interlocking pavers across the exhibition ground and formed suitable walking paths. The initiative helps minimise dust and provides a more comfortable walking surface for visitors, even during rain.

“We have brought about several changes over the past two years, with greater emphasis on innovation and public convenience. Earlier, visitors found it difficult to walk around the exhibition ground for six to seven days after rainfall. The situation has changed completely with the laying of interlocking tiles,” said KEA Chairman Ayub Khan (speaking to The Hindu), adding that the exhibition ground, with its attractive features, draws visitors from all income groups.

The venue is cleaned every day before noon, with special emphasis on maintaining food hygiene and ensuring an adequate number of toilets to provide convenience to visitors, as informed by the KEA.

For the safety concern, security, ambulance, and fire safety services are also kept on standby at the exhibition ground.
