A man, his father and a friend were allegedly assaulted and paraded naked in Kolkata’s Behala area over the man’s relationship with a teenager, with three people arrested.

A man and his father were allegedly forced to walk naked through a lane in Kolkata’s Behala area after the man was caught with a teenage girl. The incident, which took place on Sunday, has sparked outrage after a video of the alleged humiliation surfaced on social media.

The man’s friend, who had accompanied him to meet the girl, was also allegedly beaten and subjected to similar humiliation.

Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident, including the girl’s father and maternal uncle. A senior police officer confirmed the arrests on Monday.

According to the preliminary investigation, the young man had gone to meet the girl along with his friend. The two were talking when the man allegedly kissed her. A friend of the girl’s uncle reportedly saw this and informed her father and maternal uncle.

The girl’s relatives then reached the spot and allegedly took the two young men to their house in Khudirampally. The pair were reportedly assaulted there.

The girl’s family then called the young man’s father to the house. Police said he too was allegedly beaten after reaching the spot.

The three men were allegedly threatened with a gun and told to remove their clothes and walk outside the house. They were then reportedly paraded naked for around 50 metres along the lane.

“The woman’s family allegedly caught them together and subsequently confined the young man inside a house. The young man was allegedly assaulted by the woman’s father and maternal uncle," a police officer said, as quoted by NDTV.

The officer added that the initial investigation showed that the young man’s father was later called to the location.

A video purportedly showing the incident has since circulated widely on social media, bringing the case to public attention. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and public humiliation.
