It is regrettable how India, which was among the very few nations that did not recognise Israel when it was created, has drastically altered its stance today, said retired judge of the Madras High Court Justice Hari Paranthaman.
The book launch for Amerikka-Isravel Aneethiyum Makkal Samuga Kadamaiyum (American-Israeli Injustice and the Duty of Civil Society), authored by C.S. Rex Sargunam and published by Chinthan Books, was held on Saturday evening at the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai. The book was released by V. Meenakshisundaram, former editor of Theekkathir, and received by ‘Sigaram’ Senthilnathan, State vice-president of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association (TNPWAA).
The book features articles examining the trajectory of hostilities between the United States and Iran and the Israel-Lebanon conflict.
Presiding over the event, Justice Hari Paranthaman said that when Israel was formed in the late 1940s, apart from the Arab nations, only India, Iran, and Yugoslavia withheld recognition; however, in recent years, India had significantly shifted its stance to actively support Israel.
Speaking at the event’s conclusion, Dr. Rex Sargunam emphasised that people should come together in support of Palestine.
