YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Chittoor assembly constituency coordinator M. C. Vijayananda Reddy alleged large-scale irregularities in the Chittoor Municipal Corporation elections and claimed that 51 of the 60 divisions were declared elected unanimously under political pressure.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday (October 25, 2026), Mr. Vijayananda Reddy said that a formal written complaint has been filed with the Chittoor One-Town police. He stated that of the 51 unanimous winners, 47 belong to the TDP, two to the Jana Sena Party, one to the BJP, and one to the YSRCP, and he alleged that the returning officers bypassed due process while declaring these victories.
According to the complaint, large crowds of ruling party supporters surrounded the municipal office on the final day of nominations, preventing opposition candidates from entering. He further claimed that aspirants were intimidated into withdrawing their forms and that forged signatures were utilised.
The YSRCP leader also accused a municipal official of acting outside his official capacity and colluding with ruling party functionaries and presented photographs as purported evidence. Demanding criminal action for forgery, Mr. Reddy stated the party would pursue legal recourse in this regard.
