Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders on Sunday expressed confidence that the alliance parties— TDP, Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would register a stunning victory in the Vizianagaram urban local body elections scheduled to be held on November 1, 2026.
MLA Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapathi Raju and TDP observer and AP Velama Corporation chairman P.V.G. Kumar said that the effective vote transfer among the alliance parties would strengthen the NDA alliance prospects in the district.
Following the completion of seat sharing agreements and the withdrawal of rebel candidates, the alliance parties held joint public meetings and campaigned in several wards of Vizianagaram city.
Speaking to media, Ms. Aditi said: “The combined strength of the alliance parties—TDP candidates contesting in 48 divisions, 10 JSP candidates and four BJP candidates— would benefit the Mayor candidate Ms. Avanapu Bhargavi.
AP Velama Corporation chairman said that many TDP aspirants who had not secured tickets were extending their wholehearted support to JSP and BJP candidates under the direction of the party high command.
JSP leader Kalla Gowri Shankar, BJP leader Ravva Srinivas and others vowed to extend their support to TDP candidates across all wards in the ensuing elections.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member and TDP election coordinator for the Vizianagaram Parliamentary constituency Chintakayala Vijay along with Minister for MSME Kondapalli Srinivas, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita, Mr. P.V.G. Kumar and Ms. Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapathi Raju, reviewed the party’s campaign for the Vizianagaram Corporation elections and the 27 Zilla Praja Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTCs) and 443 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTCs) in the district on Sunday.
Mr. Vijay said that TDP and its alliance parties would win the corporation and parishad elections with comfortable majorities.
He said that TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had significantly developed Vizianagaram district as well as other parts of the State in the last two and half years.
With only a few days remaining for campaigning, the leaders are prioritising election strategies and identifying areas in the district where the party might face setbacks.
Mr. Vijay, who played a key role in seat-sharing negotiations among the TDP, JSP and BJP said that vote transfer among the candidates of alliance parties would be smooth in all places.
Mr. Vijay claimed that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was not in a position to give a strong challenge to the alliance parties in most of the constituencies.
