Following the prisoner escape incident in Tamil Nadu, nine jail guards were suspended by the Prisons DGP.

Seventeen undertrial inmates escaped from the Thekkampatti sub-jail after staging a fake medical emergency involving a seizure. When prison staff entered the cell to assist, the prisoners assaulted the guards and fled.

Police launched a large-scale search operation, deploying 17 special teams, setting up checkpoints, and intensifying vehicle checks and surveillance across neighbouring districts.
