DMK president M.K. Stalin on Sunday (October 25, 2026) wondered whether the TVK-led government in Tamil Nadu, headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, would last even six months and urged his party workers to be prepared to oust the government.
Speaking at a marriage function in Chennai, Mr. Stalin said when the DMK-led alliance won the 2021 Assembly election and he took charge as Chief Minister, he had told reporters that his government would deliver good governance that even those who had not voted for the alliance would regret not having voted for it. However, he said today, those who had voted for the TVK had been regretting their decision.

“Under this government, newspapers carry reports every day of rising prices of essential commodities, administrative failures, sexual offences, murders and robberies. On one side, there are power cuts, while on the other, reports have been appearing for the past five or six days about children being kidnapped,” he said.
He said the government had formed a special force called the Singappen Special Force. “Now, a situation has arisen in which another force has to be formed to protect the Singappen Special Force,” he said.

Referring to Mr. Vijay’s rhetoric during the 2026 election campaign that the electoral battle was between only two parties — the TVK and the DMK — Mr. Stalin said after the TVK-led government came to power, the contest had become one between power cuts and murders. “But now, the situation has changed to a fight between sexual violence and the proliferation of narcotic drugs. Now, the people of Tamil Nadu must have clearly understood who the real evil force is,” Mr. Stalin said.
“I had said this government would last only for six months. Now, the situation has reached a point whether this government would even last for six months,” Mr. Stalin said, urging DMK cadres to prepare to oust the government.
