Viral influencer Freddy Francis on Sunday announced that he is no longer associated with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) Kerala unit in any official capacity, citing serious disagreements over the organisation’s fundraising practices, political statements and decisions he believes could undermine the state’s secular-socialist fabric.

In an official statement, Francis said he would not be involved in the party’s future activities and could not endorse or take responsibility for its decisions.

“I have serious disagreements with the organisation’s fundraising practices, certain immature political statements, and decisions that I believe could undermine the secular-socialist fabric of Keralam. I cannot endorse or take responsibility for such decisions, statements, or future activities," he said.

Freddy Francis was among the early figures involved in building the CJP and its youth movement in Kerala. The state unit began expanding its organised activities in September, with coordinators announcing plans to establish a presence across all districts and take up local social and political issues. Francis was also actively involved in the protests that led to the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, according to Kerala Kaumudi.

Francis, however, acknowledged the collective efforts of those who had worked with the organisation, thanking supporters who stood by the team during floods, protests and other initiatives.

“The work we carried out together as a team laid the foundation for what the movement has become today. I remain proud of our collective efforts and the people who contributed to them," he said.

Clarifying that his departure did not amount to a rejection of his stated principles, Francis said he would continue to stand for democracy, secularism and social justice.

“My decision to step away does not mean stepping away from the values I believe in," he said.

He added that his commitment to the constitutional rights and freedoms of every Indian citizen remained unchanged.

“I will continue to stand for democracy, secularism, social justice, and the constitutional rights and freedoms of every citizen of India. My commitment to these principles remains unchanged," Francis said.
