Questions over student safety and supervision have emerged following the assault of a six-year-old girl inside a government school in Haryana’s Panchkula. The victim’s family has questioned how the incident went unnoticed despite CCTV cameras being monitored from the principal’s office.
The girl’s uncle, Fazil, said the family wanted answers about what happened inside the school. He claimed that the third-grade student accused of the assault had a history of playing violent or aggressive video games.
According to Fazil, the boy’s father had also acknowledged that his son played PUBG and other games. He alleged that these gaming habits had influenced the child’s actions.
“The child (who committed the attack)—it turns out he plays certain types of games—aggressive games— he played PUBG, and now his father has also confirmed that he used to play PUBG and other such games, which led to these actions," Fazil said.
Fazil also shared the sequence of events that allegedly preceded the assault. He said the boy called the girl “crazy". When she objected and threatened to complain about his remark, he allegedly told her that her father was upstairs and asked her to accompany him.
The family has also raised concerns about how the girl was found. According to them, the accused student himself led them to the child, who was lying injured and unconscious. They have questioned why the alleged attack was not detected earlier.
Meanwhile, the girl’s condition has improved, her uncle said. She has been receiving treatment over the past two to three days, with doctors keeping a close watch on her recovery.
“She is doing better than before… For the past two or three days, she has been receiving excellent care. The doctors are monitoring her very closely; everything is being handled well," Fazil said.
He also confirmed that separate FIRs had been registered against the school and the accused child.
The incident has prompted action from the Haryana Education Department, which suspended two Junior Basic Training teachers, Simranjeet Kaur and Pooja Rani, with immediate effect.
The Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR) has independently taken suo motu cognisance of the matter. It has asked the District Education Officer in Panchkula to provide a detailed report, including the steps taken by the Education Department.
The investigation and departmental action are underway as the family continues to seek accountability over the alleged assault and the school’s security arrangements.
