NAN Enaex, the 50:50 joint venture between NAN GreenMet and Chile-based blasting solutions company Enaex SA, plan to invest ₹750 crore in setting up an integrated explosives manufacturing facility by 2027.
Enaex expects India to contribute 10 per cent of its global sales, potentially reaching about $300 million.
The venture will offer modern emulsion explosives, electronic detonator systems, mine-to-mill optimisation services and digital and AI-enabled tools for mining, quarrying and civil infrastructure projects.
Its focus will extend beyond explosives supply to improve blast precision, operational safety, productivity and control over the impact of blasting on surrounding areas.
Manufacturing Plans
India’s explosives market is estimated to reach $1.7 billion by 2030 and $2.7 billion by 2035. Demand is being driven by expanding mineral production and large-scale infrastructure development.
India is targeting 300 million tonnes of steelmaking capacity by 2030, while select mining segments are projected to grow by 12–15 per cent annually. The country also has a pipeline of more than 1,300 tunnels spanning 3,600 km across hydropower, railways, roads and metros, supported by the government’s ₹12.2 lakh crore capital expenditure allocation for FY27 and 500 GW non-fossil electricity capacity target for 2030.
With 100-year of history, Enaex provides blasting solutions. It has direct operations in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Oceania, with leading positions in countries such as Chile, Peru, Brazil and South Africa.
NAN Enaex will bring its first manufacturing unit strategically located close to customers and industrial infrastructure in Eastern India with phase-1 capacity of 1.50 lakh tonne of emulsion explosives and one million electronic detonators.
Infra Projects
Annanya Agarwal, Co-founder and Director, NAN GreenMet said India is investing heavily in civil infrastructure, from hydropower and tunnelling to highways and railways, alongside the expansion of its mining sector which need better technology, higher safety standards and more efficient operations.
“With Enaex, we have a partner with a strong global track record in product quality, technology and safety,” he said.
Juan Andrés Errázuriz Domínguez, CEO, Enaex said India is undertaking infrastructure projects of a scale and complexity that demand a different approach to blasting.
In mining, he added the real gains come from getting the blast right the first time, with greater precision, better fragmentation and tighter control. This where the technology comes into focus, he added.
