A 24-year-old man allegedly brandished a revolver at bouncers and customers after an argument broke out at a bar and restaurant in Somajiguda in the early hours of Saturday (October 24), creating panic among those present. The Panjagutta police booked a case.

According to a complaint lodged by 29-year-old Bachu Bunty, a bouncer at Head Quarters Bar & Restaurant, the incident occurred around 12.30 a.m. when a heated argument broke out between customers on the second floor of the establishment.

The staff intervened and sent the two groups out of the second floor to prevent the dispute from escalating. One of the men then went to his vehicle parked in the cellar, took out a revolver and attempted to re-enter the restaurant.

A bouncer, Ganesh, stopped him at the ground floor and moved him towards the cellar area. However, around 12.40 a.m., the man allegedly followed other customers into the cellar, brandished the revolver and threatened the customers and bouncers.

According to the complaint, he demanded that the amount he had paid towards the bill be returned, threatening to shoot them if they failed to comply. The incident triggered panic among the staff and customers, who screamed and attempted to flee.

The police were alerted and intercepted the man. He was identified as 24-year-old Mohammed Shanawaz, a liquor business operator and resident of Achireddy Nagar, Owaisi Colony, Hyderabad. Police took the revolver into custody and brought Shanawaz to the police station along with his vehicle.

The complainant said the man’s act of bringing the revolver from the vehicle, entering the premises with the weapon and allegedly pointing it at customers and staff posed a serious threat to their safety. The complaint further stated that the bouncers and other customers intervened to prevent the situation from escalating.

Police are taking necessary legal action based on the complaint.
