Anticipation is building for Suriya’s upcoming film ‘Scene’, and fans have been busy guessing the details of his character. One online theory suggested that the actor plays a blind police officer.
After the film’s writer, Dravid Selvam, clarified that Suriya is not blind, speculation shifted to whether his character has prosopagnosia, a condition that affects a person’s ability to recognise faces. Director Jithu Madhavan has now given a clearer picture of the story.
Credits and references: Suriya’s ‘Scene’
‘Scene’ is Suriya’s 47th film and marks Jithu Madhavan’s debut in Tamil cinema. It is produced by Suriya and Jyotika, with writing by Dravid Selvam. The cast includes Naslen, Nazriya Nazim, Anandraj, Lal and Raj Priyan in important roles.
Music is by Sushin Shyam, who earlier teamed up with the director on the Malayalam hits ‘Romancham’ and ‘Aavesham’. Cinematography is by Vineeth Augustian, editing by Ajmal Sabu, production design by Ashwini Kale and action choreography by Chethan D’Souza.
The songs ‘Aathi Iva Yarraa’ and ‘Aeroplane’ have already drawn interest from listeners. The director’s comments come from an interview with Cinema Vikatan.
Jithu Madhavan explains the story behind ‘Scene’
Explaining the central conflict, Jithu Madhavan said, “The film revolves around an investigation and amusing chaos. A person who was once a senior police officer wants to file a case against someone who has been dismissed from the force, but he has no support. So, he forms a team of his own, comprising some rather unusual characters. None of them are normal, and even living together is a challenge for them. Making them work together to investigate a case is an even bigger challenge.
”He added that the film follows the investigation and the unexpected situations that arise as the team tries to work together. The director also said the aim was to make an entertaining film that families could enjoy together.
Questions about Suriya’s character remain
While the director’s explanation offers a glimpse of the plot, the finer details of Suriya’s role are still part of the film’s growing buzz. The makers are preparing for a theatrical release alongside other major titles, including ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ and ‘Ramayana: Part 1’.The director’s comments have given audiences a better understanding of the story without revealing all its mysteries. Whether the unusual team and its investigation meet expectations will be known only when the film reaches theatres.
