A day after being expelled from the Janata Dal (United), Mokama MLA Anant Singh on Sunday (October 25, 2026) hit out at the party’s leadership over the disciplinary action, claiming that JD(U) is finished.

Blaming JD(U) Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha for the action, Mr. Singh said that those who have taken this decision will face the consequences when the Assembly elections are held in Bihar. He asserted that JD(U) will not even win 10 seats.

JD(U) on Saturday (October 24, 2026), expelled Mr. Singh and his wife, who is also a former MLA, Neelam Devi for six years for indulging in “anti-party activities”. The JD(U), an ally in the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has also urged the Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar to rescind Mr. Anant Singh’s membership of the House with immediate effect.

‘Nitish Kumar ji has made JD(U) and he is no longer active. So after him, I don’t think anybody is there to run the party. Those who are there in party are good for nothing. When Nitish ji is finished, JD(U) is also finished. The party will struggle to win even 10 seats in the election,” Mr. Singh said while speaking to reporters at his residence in Patna.

In the recently concluded Bihar Legislative Council polls in eight seats, Mr. Singh campaigned widely in support of the Jans Suraaj Party’s Anuj Kumar Singh, and declared that he would defeat the party’s official candidate, Neeraj Kumar, in the poll.

When asked, on whose instructions action was taken, Mr. Singh without naming Mr. Jha said, “Jiko party ka maalik banaya hai, wahi na faisla liya hoga (The person who has been made the owner of the party must be the one who took the decision.).”

He refused to disclose which party he would be joining after being expelled from JD(U). In fact, Mr. Singh rather went one step ahead claiming that he might float his own political party.

Mr. Singh pointed out that he never went to the party seeking MLA ticket and it was JD((U) who had approached him.

“I can see the future of JD(U), the party is finished now. These leaders who are acting as Minister and Prime Minister will face the consequences in election. I don’t have any problem with Nitish ji and will remain loyal to him. These days, he is not well and has fallen sick, so I will go and meet him,” Mr. Singh said.

He added, “I hardly care about party’s decision. The people are the god and they will decide, they will give a reply. If I am wrong, they will respond to me and if they [party] is wrong, people will respond to them as well.”

When asked about JD(U) urging Assembly Speaker to revoke his membership as well, Mr. Singh responded, “Why are you so bothered about me, I don’t have any problem with that also.”
