ITC Hotels Ltd shares hit a day high of Rs 168.50 on 26 October, up 8%, after the company reported a 51% jump in September quarter profit.

The board approved the numbers on 26 October, and the company filed them with the exchange in the afternoon.

Consolidated net profit rose 51.4% to Rs 201 crore, from Rs 133 crore a year earlier. Revenue climbed 25.6% to Rs 1,054 crore, up from Rs 839 crore.

Operating profit, the money left after day-to-day costs, rose 37.3% to Rs 337 crore. That lifted the margin to 32% from 29.3%, so about Rs 32 of every Rs 100 in sales now stays as operating profit.

Hotels did most of the work. The hotel business brought in Rs 966 crore, up from Rs 823 crore, and its segment profit rose to Rs 206 crore from Rs 141 crore.

A newer branded residences business, which had no sales in the same quarter last year, added Rs 71 crore in revenue and Rs 23 crore in profit.

Two purchases muddy the comparison. ITC Hotels bought Kerala Luxury Resorts, formerly Zuri Hotels and Resorts, on 19 May, and GHK Hospitality & Infrastructures on 1 September.

The results include both from those dates. On a standalone basis, which leaves them out, revenue grew 16.3% to Rs 885 crore.

Compared with the April to June quarter, revenue rose 12.6%. The company also paid a dividend of Re 1 per share earlier this year, and shares traded without it from 21 May.

ITC Hotels closed at Rs 164.31 on NSE, up 5.16% from the previous close of Rs 156.25.

The stock is still down 16.40% so far this year and 25.97% over one year, and its 52-week range runs from Rs 137.30 to Rs 226.63.
