A 28-year-old newlywed woman died under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district on Sunday, with her family alleging that she was murdered by her husband.

The woman’s family has also alleged that the husband was previously married and concealed the information from her before their wedding.

The deceased, identified as Muskan, had married Nilesh on June 29, 2026, and had been married for nearly four months. She was staying with him at Rishabh Hotel in Jhansi when she collapsed at the entrance of their room on Monday morning, NDTV reported.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Muskan walking behind two people towards a hotel room. As she approaches the doorway, she suddenly falls to the ground. Her husband is then seen lifting her and carrying her inside. She was subsequently taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Following the family’s allegations, police detained Nilesh for questioning. Muskan’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
