The post is with reference to India’s military operation against alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025.
What Was Operation Sindoor?
Operation Sindoor was launched on the night of May 6–7, 2025, in retaliation for the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
India said its forces struck nine terrorist facilities in Pakistan and PoJK, targeting groups it holds responsible for cross-border terrorism. These included alleged camps and launch pads linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen.
According to the government, more than 100 terrorists, trainers, handlers and associates were killed in the strikes.
India’s Stand On The Strikes
India described the initial action as focused, measured and non-escalatory. The government said Pakistani military facilities were not targeted during this phase of the operation.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the strikes were based on intelligence inputs and planned to avoid civilian casualties.
The BJP’s Diwali post brought the operation back into focus through a video from the strikes, accompanied by a message that appeared to take a dig at Pakistan. The caption, particularly the phrase “you-know-who", gave the festival greeting a pointed political edge.
