GAIL Q2 Profit Climbs to Rs 4,650 Cr as Gas Volumes Rise

GAIL reported a standalone profit of Rs 4,650 Cr for the September quarter, up 8% from the June quarter, as sales and gas volumes both rose.

GAIL (India) Limited released its September quarter results on 30 October.

Sales from operations came in at Rs 45,924 crore, up from Rs 38,981 crore in the June quarter.

Profit after tax rose to Rs 4,650 crore from Rs 4,292 crore. Profit before tax barely moved, at Rs 5,838 crore against Rs 5,773 crore.

Put simply, sales grew faster than profit. Against the same quarter last year, profit more than doubled from Rs 2,217 crore. The first half of FY27 looks stronger still.

Standalone sales for April to September reached Rs 84,905 crore, against Rs 69,824 crore a year earlier, while profit after tax climbed to Rs 8,943 crore from Rs 4,104 crore.

Counting its subsidiaries, the picture is similar. Group sales for the first half were Rs 88,651 crore against Rs 71,086 crore, and profit for shareholders reached Rs 9,385 crore, up from Rs 4,342 crore.

More gas moved through its network this quarter. Pipeline transmission rose to 130.10 million cubic metres a day from 122.36, and gas sold by the company went up to 97.23 from 93.82.

Polymer output jumped to 204 thousand tonnes from 51 thousand. Spending on new projects continues.

GAIL put Rs 7,600 crore into capital projects in the first half, including Rs 1,425 crore in the second quarter, against a plan of about Rs 12,900 crore for the full year.

Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Gupta said his teams kept operations and supplies running through a difficult period.

The board also approved a listing of GAIL Gas, with up to 25% equity on sale, and moved six city gas areas into it.

It pushed the Kochi-Bengaluru-Mangaluru pipeline deadline to March 2027 and the Gurdaspur-Jammu line to December 2026. An investor meet is set for 5 November in Mumbai.
