According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Kalindi Kunj recorded the highest Air Quality Index (AQI) among the monitored locations at 267, followed by AIIMS at 255 and India Gate at 236. All three locations remained in the ‘poor’ air quality category.

The minimum temperature across Delhi-NCR is expected to hover around 19 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is likely to remain around 32 degrees Celsius.
Delhi recorded its first ‘poor’ air quality day of the season on Wednesday, October 21, with the AQI touching a 100-day high of 245. The deterioration came after Dussehra celebrations across the capital coupled with instances of stubble burning in neighbouring states, including Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
In various parts of the capital, people burned crackers along with effigies of Ravana to celebrate the festival. However, no link has been established between the dropping air quality and Dussehra celebrations.
Centre Invokes GRAP 1
As the air quality across Delhi-NCR worsened, the Centre invoked Stage I of GRAP, with authorities ramping up dust control measures amid concerns over prolonged pollution exposure, particularly among children and senior citizens.
The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) comprises a set of measures and restrictions, aimed at containing pollution levels and preventing them from deteriorating further.
