Bankipur Bypoll Result 2026, Counting Live Updates: The assembly bypoll in Bihar’s Bankipur enters its final phase today, August 3, with the high-stakes constituency set for counting. The by-election in Bankipur, alongside Madhya Pradesh’s Datia and Gujarat’s Manjalpur, was held on July 30, with a moderate voter turnout of 34.16 per cent, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Polling experts suggest that a low voter turnout is seen as a sign of weak voter enthusiasm, lower engagement, or reduced motivation to participate in the election process. However, at time, it can also be the result of various factors such as weather, voting access, and registration rules.

Why Bankipur Fell Vacant

The Bankipur seat fell vacant after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nitin Nabin resigned as MLA after his appointment as the party’s president and subsequent election to the Rajya Sabha. The BJP has fielded Neeraj Kumar Sinha, and Jan Suraaj Party supremo Prashant Kishor has thrown his hat in the contest.
