Scuffle at MP Pappu Yadav's Delhi home during a press briefing. Two men confronted him, accusing him of insulting Sanatan Dharma.

A scuffle broke out at the Delhi residence of Independent MP Pappu Yadav on Saturday evening after two men confronted him during a media interaction, prompting police to detain the duo.

A few journalists had gathered at Yadav’s residence for a routine press briefing. Several party workers and supporters were also present at the venue, where the MP had returned after being away from Delhi.

During the interaction, two men allegedly began arguing with Yadav, accusing him of insulting Sanatan Dharma. The verbal exchange soon escalated into a confrontation.

According to people present at the spot, one of the two men allegedly attempted to remove his slipper, reportedly with the intention of throwing it at the MP. Before he could do so, Yadav’s supporters overpowered both men and allegedly assaulted them. The police have also recovered a knife after the scuffle.

The two men then tried to flee the scene, but Delhi Police intervened and took them into custody.

Following the incident, Pappu Yadav and his supporters claimed that the two men were carrying a knife. Visuals circulating on social media showed a knife placed on a table after the incident.

Speaking about in incident, Yada said that the attack was an attempt to kill him.

“I came here because last night, they went to my children’s home. Now, you are trying to intimidate my children too; that won’t happen. I was with the press, and a conversation was underway. Amid that, there was an attempt to kill me," said Yadav.

“Some ‘Baba’ was saying, ‘Burn him alive,’ while others were saying, ‘Kill him.’ If people hadn’t been here, I would have been finished. I haven’t said anything. I only asked Champat Rai or Giri Ji, where did the 200 kg of silver go? Where did the gold go?… The Delhi Police is quite capable. I have been demanding security for a long time now. What crime have I committed?," he added.
