Sebi gives nod to Atomberg IPO

Consumer appliances maker Atomberg Technologies has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for its proposed initial public offering (IPO). The Mumbai-based company, known for its energy-efficient smart ceiling fans and expanding range of home appliances, plans a fresh issue of shares worth up to Rs 450 crore along with an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 7.65 crore (76.5 million) equity shares by existing investors.

The company filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with SEBI in August 2026. Earlier reports had indicated Atomberg was preparing for a larger overall offering in the range of Rs 1,500-2,000 crore, with the final size dependent on the yet-to-be-announced price band.

Backed by investors including A91 Partners and Temasek, Atomberg has grown rapidly in India’s competitive consumer durables market. Its product portfolio, initially focused on energy-efficient fans, has expanded to include smart locks, kitchen appliances such as mixer-grinders, and water purifiers.

In FY26, the company’s revenue rose 32 per cent to Rs 1,324 crore from Rs 1,001 crore in the previous year, though losses widened to Rs 148.9 crore from Rs 117.4 crore. Home appliances accounted for the bulk of revenue, while the kitchen appliances segment showed strong growth.

Proceeds from the fresh issue are earmarked for specific purposes: approximately Rs 150 crore for brand awareness and performance marketing, Rs 100 crore for research and development, and Rs 90 crore toward repayment or prepayment of borrowings. The company may also raise up to Rs 90 crore through a pre-IPO placement, which could reduce the size of the fresh issue accordingly.

In the OFS component, major selling shareholders include A91 Emerging Fund I (offering up to about 3.7 crore shares), Temasek-backed V-Sciences Investments (up to 1.22 crore shares), and Jungle Ventures’ JV4 (nearly 99.5 lakh shares). Other participants include funds managed by Inflexor, Steadview Capital, and Survam Partners. Promoters Manoj Meena and Sibabrata Das are not selling any shares.

Book-running lead managers for the issue include ICICI Securities, Avendus Capital, and IIFL Capital Services. The price band and exact timeline for the IPO have not yet been announced. SEBI’s observations allow the company to proceed with filing the red herring prospectus and launch the public issue within the regulatory window, typically up to one year.

This development marks a significant milestone for Atomberg as it seeks to fuel further growth in product innovation, brand visibility, and market expansion while providing an exit opportunity for early investors. The IPO is expected to attract attention amid ongoing interest in India’s consumer tech and appliances sector.
