The attack on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was allegedly the result of an eight-month-long conspiracy involving three specialised hit squads linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, NDTV reported, citing sources.
On October 18, at least two men opened fire at the car of the 36-year-old actor as he was leaving Pushpa Narsee Park, also known as Pushpa Narsee Ground, in Mumbai’s Juhu area after a football game. Shroff was unharmed in the incident.
Soon after the firing, Anil Pandit, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack. He cited Shroff’s proximity to actor Salman Khan, who has been a target of the gang over the blackbuck poaching case.
As investigators deepen their probe, they have found that Pandit and his associates allegedly spent eight months preparing for the attack. The operation was divided among three groups, each assigned a specific responsibility, NDTV reported, citing sources.
While one team conducted reconnaissance and gathered information about the target, another arranged the weapons. The third group was tasked with transporting the firearms to Mumbai. Pandit allegedly financed the entire operation.
Investigators have also found that the attack was allegedly planned to extort money, assert the gang’s dominance and spread fear within the film industry.
Messaging Apps Used To Communicate
During the eight-month planning period, the gang members allegedly communicated through encrypted messaging platforms Signal and Zangi. Both applications allow users to communicate over the internet without requiring a mobile number for registration.
The use of these platforms has posed a challenge for the police, who are attempting to decode the messages exchanged as part of the conspiracy.
The investigation has revealed that three of the 11 people arrested so far in connection with the case, Rehan, Pranjal and Kunal, were in direct contact with the alleged mastermind, Pandit, through these apps. Investigators are examining the chats to trace Pandit.

The attack involved an eight-month-long conspiracy split among three specialised hit squads tasked with reconnaissance, weapons procurement, and firearms transportation, which were financed by gang member Anil Pandit. During this planning phase, the conspirators communicated using encrypted messaging applications like Signal and Zangi.
Gang member Anil Pandit claimed responsibility for the October 18, 2026 firing incident, citing Tiger Shroff's proximity to actor Salman Khan, who has long been targeted over the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Investigators also revealed that the plot was designed to extort money, assert the gang's dominance, and spread fear within the film industry.
The conspirators used encrypted messaging platforms Signal and Zangi to communicate without needing a mobile registration number during their eight-month planning period. Police noted that three of the eleven arrested suspects—Rehan, Pranjal, and Kunal—were in direct contact with the alleged mastermind, Pandit, through these applications.
